Incredibles Cameo

Here's the pre-production painting that Lou Romano did of my layout (click for larger version). You can see on the left wall the archway usher painting. Alas, it never made it into the actual movie.

Detail...

for some reason the image was cropped in the "art of" book and unfortunately the painting on the wall got cut in half. bummer.

Archway Usher

This is a scene that I sketch or paint every once in a while. Often it finds its way into the background of other pieces i've done as a framed painting on the wall. (including a development painting for the Incredibles I did with Lou Romano - which i'll post when i get to a scanner, but it's in the "art of" book if you have it.)
This composition has some meaning for me as it is based on two separate paintings that my grandmother did when i was child. After many years I had merged both paintings in my mind and thought that there was this one painting. Later, after she past away I discovered that the painting in my mind did not exist but rather it was fragmented into two.
Ever since I've sketched and painted the version I've seen in my mind.
