Lou & Don #1

Lou Romano and I have done a few images together. I love when he paints my layout drawings!
The first time we ever worked together was this background key for Dave Wasson's cartoon short "Max & His Special Problem". I did the layout drawing and Lou painted it in Gouache and Pastel on black museum board.
1997

...yeah, i know, the arrow shadow is backwards.

Gah! Insanely nice layout. Especially the designs on those cars. Really nice work!

Wha? You two collaborated before?! That tears it! I thought you guys were just hitting it off so famously as newfound mates. Now I find out you have history?! I cannot trust again.

No shared history man

Beautiful. Great layout, great color. That's probably my favorite cartoon short of recent vintage. Just solid all around. I had no idea you'd worked on it. Wasson, Shank, Romano, Jaques...no wonder it's so good.

Matt - The short can be seen in full here -- It's the last film on the reel.
