I just found this photo of some doodles I did earlier this year on a paper I laid out to protect my table.
Kurt is working on a little abstract painting of a cake.

iPad Paintings: Vol 1
iPad paintings
2010
Finger on Glass
When I have some spare time (hahahahah) I like to paint on my iPad. Most of the people I know that use an iPad use a stylus because they want to draw/sketch more than paint. Yes, drawing with your finger isn't so great but I have no problem Painting with my finger. In fact, I like it quite a bit.
Above are a handful of paintings I did on my iPad with the Brushes app for iPad. I love this app. Yes, I've tried Sketchbook Pro, I like it fine, it's a great app, but I'm drawn more to the simple directness of Brushes. It's a pleasure to use. (Though there are a few things I wish it had (Saturation Slider please!))
Also, one of the coolest things is you can play back your painting right there on the iPad and watch as it re-creates itself. Even better you can email yourself the "actions" file for the painting to your computer and using the free Brushes Viewer application it can re-render the image up to 6x high and wide (that's 4608pixels by 6144 pixels!) The images here on my blog were shrunk down from that size to 2000 x 1500. It will export Quicktime movies too, I'll post some movies in the future.
Most of the work I do on my iPad is abstract but I have toyed a little with some indoor plein comput-air painting hehe. I would love to make a giant burka style outdoor iPad plein air painting jumpsuit hahaha.

Maxfield's
Went to Maxfield's (aka The Pied Piper) in the city on sunday. It's pretty cool in there though they served my whiskey sour in a wine glass (???)

Back Room at the Chelsea Bar
Found this in one of my sketchbooks from a year ago.
Just one of the bars that Kurt frequents. Apparently there's a back room where one can enjoy a bit of gambling.

Kurt Makes an Appearance
...at the San Diego Comic-Con that is.

pencil and water soluble graphite on nice hot press watercolor paper.
10"x14"
here's a detail...

This year Scott Morse will be selling a limited edition print set to promote our next book The Ancient Book of Sex and Science. (Scott Morse, Lou Romano, Nate Wragg, and myself) That book won't be for sale until next year's con so we put together a nice set of 8x10 prints. More on that soon!
I won't be at this year's con (I'll be in Tahoe with my lovely wife and adorable new daughter celebrating our 2 year anniversary!) but besides the print set I decided to do some drawings and give them to Scott to peddle at his table. (he doesn't even know this yet ;-D hehe) I haven't settled on price yet, but it'll be something CHEAP like $40 or $50!
Here's the first, warts and all. Let's see how many I can do by monday... seriously i'm so busy, this might be the only one haha!
It's a Kurt jam. Start in one corner and draw!
I've been obsessively playing this dice game on my iPhone so it looks like Kurt is getting some of the action too.

Kurt Noir
I've been watching a lot of old film noir and crime pictures lately. During a meeting yesterday I tried some hats and trenchcoats on Kurt.

String of Micro-Panels
This post is for Paul Rudish who told me at my wedding that he loves that all my "blog-posts" are "post-it" size. Hmm, maybe 3M should make Blog-Post-Its!
Hi Paul! These tiny doodles are only 2 inches tall so you must be in heaven. hehe.
Luckily, the rest of you can click for a larger view.
This string of semi-unrelated panels are little rendering style experiments for an idea I'm playing with. Of course "that guy" Kurt is standing in.
